Itunes Lets People Re-Download all Your Music Once! May 24, 2006

Victory I was trying to buy and watch a episode of firefly when it kept messing up. So I contacted the music store and they let me re-download the one thing. So then I asked them, “What if my Hard drive got erased and I lost ALL of my music.” And this is what he emailed back.

Itunes Music Store Says “In the event that a customers entire music library is lost, the iTunes Music Store does re-grant the purchases history. Please keep in mind that Apple does not offer protection against the loss of purchases, so this is a one-time exception.”

Is it just me or has apple very rarely granted this. Well now you can hold this to them when you lose all of your music.

Update:

The Episode of Firefly that messed up was put back in my purchased account and all I had to do to download it was “Check for Purchases” under the Advanced Option.

Edit:  I have found that alot of you do not know exactly how to contact apple about this problem.  So here is the link and then you go to the bottom of the page and tell them your problem.

Not sure about iTunes but I am a customer of Audible.com in which I can always download and redownload my old purchases anytime and any number of times.

I had a friend who lost her hard drive, and Apple let her re-download. She also had to re-rip about 50 CDs, but the purchased songs made the job shorter.

Hey: back up!

They let me do that about a year ago. Gave me no problems at all.

5. Joe Infla - May 25, 2006

That statement reads differently to me than what your title suggests. It sounds instead like they’re saying “We don’t allow redownload of the full purchase history. This redownload of one file is a one-time exception.” No?

6. Brandon - May 25, 2006

I’ve never had an issue doing this. They’re pretty good about helping their customers in my expirence.

Is there a way i can get my songs back because i have some saved on itunes 378 but i had 421 songs and my ipod just got stolen. please help let me know

7. Charlie - May 25, 2006

Seems to me that Apples being pritty reasonable if they do actaully let you download it again. After all a large chunk of their costs are the bandwdith you use by downloading the tracks.

Its like a designer clothes shop giving you another pair of jeans if you lost your first pair in a house fire. Good on them if they help you out , but it would be impossilbe to make them.

Nic - July 3, 2009

its not at all like getting a pair of jeans. They have to individually make each pair of jeans, while Apple pays for the rights to the song once and makes a profit as many times as it is downloaded. And you spelled “pretty” wrong. It is also not IMPOSSIBLE to make them. You purchased a piece of data, you own that data. You have the right to download it as many times as you would like.

virgil - January 20, 2010

Correct. You purchase the rights to that piece not the actual file.

TheBasher (@TheBasher) - January 5, 2012

This is wrong:
“while Apple pays for the rights to the song once and makes a profit as many times as it is downloaded”

Apple pays royalties for each time a song is purchased.

Though, other providers might have other deals arranged.

Gaz - June 6, 2010

No it isnt the same idiot! If you buy a CD from a shop you automatically have a back up, with digital download there is no option other than save a back up CD, you may as well buy the CD! Also you dont get to sell on a music file if you no longer want it, its also less quality than vinyl or CD.
Jeans my ass you moron

ME - February 20, 2011

That is the stupidest analogy I’ve heard! It’s nothing like buying a pair of jeans. When you buy in iTunes its paying for the right to own a copy of that song. You should be able to retrieve that copy whenever, whereever…

9. karmajunkie - May 25, 2006

If they were giving you the physical media, I could see this being a “generous” move on their part. But their bandwidth is hardly the lions share of their costs–the bulk of the money goes to feed those boils on the ass of humanity, the RIAA. They ought to allow you to redownload at any time, especially given that their content is copy-protected so there’s ostensibly no risk of you copying the file for all the world.

10. Daniel Drucker - May 25, 2006

How is this anything like your example, Charlie? If a clothes shop gives you a new pair of jeans, they don’t have the jeans any more. Bandwidth is not a large chunk of Apple’s costs, sorry. It’s actually not even considered as a cost. Read the prospectus.

11. inadvertentgardener - May 25, 2006

I’ve never asked this question of them specifically, but I have gotten them to send me a re-download of an individual track before when I’ve had a problem with it. I had one song that kept “skipping” in the same place — there was clearly a glitch there during the download — but due to shuffling, it took me about three months to realize it was a file problem. Apple was quick and nice about offering the re-download.

That being said, the nightmare of losing all my music is such that I have everything on an external HD with that HD backed up to another external HD, just in case of HD failure. I might be paranoid, but after all the time I spent ripping my entire CD collection into iTunes, I don’t ever want to have to do that again, regardless of whether I own all that music (and still have the CDs) or not.

12. Bob - May 25, 2006

“Well now you can hold this to them when you lose all of you music.”

Um I think they can change their policy any time they please without telling anyone. So we cannot hold them to this. But they would probably still do it anyway.

I used to manage the team of agents who handled support of the iTunes store, and yes a one time exception was allowed for someone’s entire purchase history. It’s not done “rarely”, but it is something you have to go out of your way to ask for.

17. Martin - May 25, 2006

There’s really no reason to NOT do this. If they want to save bandwidth, they should just put a restriction that you can only redownload a song once or twice a month.

I lost all my music with a hard drive failure in August 05 and Apple customer service told me they did not track purchases and could not let me redownload my previous purchases. I guess I should have been more persistent and asked to speak to another rep or manager. It appears the policy is not consistent (or not consistently enforced). I now backup all my music and photos regularly anyway – hard lesson to learn.

23. Kevin - May 26, 2006

Applecare would not do it last year after a harddrive failure. I think the main issue here is what does our 99 cents buy us. I do not buy bandwidth as some folks tried to throw up. I am buying my right listen and transfer intellectual property under fair use. I think we as consumers should be assured quality and dependability of our purchases for a non limited time. All of the responsibility for this should be the providers and not the consumer. Of course this is just my humble opinion. As for the divorced woman, does not sound like both parties are happy. She kicked the guy in the balls by taking his computer and iPod. Unless she is servicing you, I send her down to the used record store in the worse part of town. Have a nice day…

24. blaze - May 26, 2006

Its better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Personally I can redownload whatever I want from a number of sources!

25. Pankers - May 26, 2006

I lost my copy of U2 w/McCartney's Sgt Pepper from the live 8d concert. In my case iTunes no longer sells the song so I can't get it back, even if I wanted to pay 99¢.
😦

26. Matt - May 26, 2006

What’s incredibly dumb about Apple is that the iPod is a natural backup for your music, yet if you accidentally lose your hard drive but still have your iPod, too bad. You can’t recreate the songs via the iPod, even if you register one of your five allowed machines.

Apple needs to realize that consumer convenience should be TOP priority, not just something to do once in a lifetime.

I think people may be misinterpreting this. My lawyerly take is that “purchase history” does not mean the content itself. You can see your purchase history by logging into your account and looking it up. It will tell you everything you have ever bought from iTMS under that sign-in. BUT, what you get is information, not content. So, an iTunes user who needed to rebuild her library would know what Purchased content she needed, but she would not necessarily get it free.

I did get to redownload part of my library about a year ago after one of my laptops suffered a failed hard drive. However, only content purchased on that computer under a single sign-in was included. Apple repair people had been working on the computer when it failed. To summarize, the circumstances were very special. I do not believe iTunes users should rely on getting a free bite of the Apple, i.e., free full replacement downloads.

I was allowed to re-download all of my music and video that I lost when my hard drive crashed (and yes, I was a complete idiot for not backing it up in the first place). On a tip from a guy at the Apple Store, I contacted iTunes Help Desk and threw myself on their mercy. Not only did they offer to place everything I had ever purchased in my download queue, when it turned out that a significant chunk was missing from the queue, they repeated the process, making sure to place everything in the queue this time.

Now, I hasten to add that 1) I’m a Machead and got my hard drive replaced through ProCare, something I mentioned to them straight off, so they could have verified the hard drive crash if needs be; and 2) I didn’t couch my request as a demand, merely as a request that I knew was outside their normal services. So not sure this will work for everyone. And I suspect that if they start getting millions of these requests, the service will be suspended. But, as of now, it’s not just an urban legend.

Re-downloads: Our 0.99 cents goes to pay for all types of stuff. I think we should pay iTunes share of that 0.99 cents to redownload songs. Eh? I’ll pay 0.20 per song again, or whatever their final cost is (for bandwidth or whatever). But I’m sure the music industry gets the largest chunk of that.

Backing up: Blank CDs – Nice, but they give out too. Sun or heat. Scratches. External HDs – Yep, they do give out. And more than once in a lifetime (sometimes even more than once per year).
And even backups themselves, we set them, we do them, but how do we know “for sure” the backup was successful or is good? The backup validate feature? Is that 100% sure? And I’ve got 3 or 4 different type tapes from years past I backed up to. How can I get that data back?

Allow the re-downloads, but just charge a little for them (like they should do with folks who send more than 500 e-mails daily: charge a penny each).

I lost several iTunes-purchased albums when moving my music from my old laptop to my new iMac. Thinking I had everything, I then backed up the new iMac to the drive I’d used with my laptop (which became my regular backup) only realising later that none of the protected AAC files had been imported into iTunes. It never complained during the operation – just silently neglected to copy them across.

As it happens, I’ve managed to find copies on my work PC, but anything I never fancied listening to there is gone due to a shortcoming in their own software, and they damn well better allow me to redownload them!

Unlimited Zune Downloads…

We Are the Night is the sixth studio album by English electronica duo The Chemical Brothers, first released on June 27, 2007. The record entered the UK Albums Chart at# 1 and the United World Chart at# 18 selling 89,000 units in its first week of sales…

90. Will - August 8, 2008

It seems to me like itunes basically has the same policy as everyone else they just a little extra money off the hundreds of thousands of people who dont bother emailing them

91. Jeff - August 24, 2008

No wonder people steal music, I think this is crap. If I buy it, I should be able to download it to my same pc as many times as I want.

92. Jordan - September 18, 2008

Will itunes charge you if you bought something but deleted it while it was downloading

93. Jeezy - September 21, 2008

yea they helped me out with this as well when my songs were deleted, they were real nice about it too.

94. nick - October 6, 2008

i want my purchases back from itunes

95. T - October 9, 2008

Considering apple has put out the glitchy pos software known as itunes that does in fact delete files from your hd and library, they should be either refunding customers or allowing unlimited downloads.

96. alex - October 17, 2008

noone else seems to have mentioned the other problem here, with ipod touch you can download directly to the ipod without going near the pc.

well, after doing this on my first ipod, which i gave to me ex, i realized after that all that stuff i ‘purchased’ is gone with it, as i had my system setup for manual sync, as i have multiple mac’s.

totally sux, you should be able to authorize a number of machines which are allowed to be linked to your account and download.

im off to ask apple for a re-download then 🙂 great.

97. alex - October 18, 2008

and all that crud about being charged for download bandwidth, and apple being nice even allowing a one-time replacement : total crap.

lets call a spade a spade – what we are buying here is the license to the track, and its apples responsibility as a music library administrator (afterall they continue to control which pc’s you can play your purchases on) to allow access to your media, where it is still available in their system.

the only difference between these tracks and any other ‘illegal downloaded ones’ should be the fact that some of that money went to the artist. otherwise im going back to illegal ones, atleast you know what you have!

is there ANY way at all to be able to download them twice?? Hasanyone EVER been able to do it? PLEASE!!! I did it once and then that computer crashed.. I NEED MY MUSIC BACK!!!

100. Teresa Walker - January 2, 2009

Hey there! I have been an itunes junkie for 4 years…have 5 ipod videos, and an itouch…..over 600gb of video/games/apps/music. My kids bought me an external hard drive for Christmas, a full TB of space. I transferred my stuff over…waited a couple of days, and then erased it from my other drives. Of course, the next morning, my external was not being recognized anymore. I tried every trick I know of and every trick tech support offered or that I found online…no dice. So, I wrote to itunes…via the support page online. I explained what happened, admitted that it was not their fault, and that I should have backed up my purchases, but could they please make an exception. I didn’t really think they would. But today I got an email, saying that I can re-download all of my purchases except any that are no longer offered. They even listed the ones I could not get….but they were, for the most part, free previews, etc. My itunes now says, “2640 items available for download.” How cool is that?? I just told them what happened…..everyone told me they would never do it….it would just be too much money….I have seasons and seasons of video…not much music…tons of games and apps. It amounts to between $2500-3000. I was shocked. So, give it a try…seriously. Ya never know….my New Year is certainly looking a whole lot better now!! Best Wishes!! BTW…if you have questions, dragonflylove@aim.com

101. Teresa Walker - January 2, 2009

Oh, and this isn’t the only time they have allowed me to download…just the only time it has been more than just a few items.

But someone above said that its probably something they do , when asked…but isn’t something they advertise about. I think thats is pretty accurate.

Good luck everyone…Happy New Year!

102. QA - January 7, 2009

The argument of an iPod as a backup drive is weak. So if you have a 120GB Classic and all your music fits on it – great! If you have an 8GB nano then you are probably out of luck. 1GB Shuffle? – totally screwed!

Sounds like Audible.com has the right idea.

Personally, I would like to see the option to download and re-download iTunes purchases in CD-quality or lower. Say hard drive space on my MacBook is a concern for me, so I download at 192kbps. Then a couple years later I get a Mac Pro with several 1TB-each drives and I want to re-download all of my purchased music in CD quality… I believe Apple should allow you to! And if something higher than CD-quality is introduced in the future they could let you upgrade for a small fee.

It would be nice not having to wonder if I’m making the right decision when I commit to buying a movie from the iTunes Store instead of the DVD or BluRay disc. Storage capacity varies, and quality is linked to file size. So offering scalable licenses for media seems like a great solution!

Plus, then when something more hi-def than the last thing comes out they can charge those who want to upgrade their existing media to the new format. It’s a win for both parties.

Itunes should have something that automatically allows you to redownload anything you’ve ever bought from them at anytime as Amazon unbox does. I don’t understand why It’s surprising that itunes would give a break for this because it is something that should be automatic. You bought it for the dvd price, and you should be allowed access to it at any time.

It appears from the link above that Apple is no longer as generous as they were a couple of years ago. It is stated on the page that you are entitled to download it only once. Ain’t that something? So if you don’t back your s*** up to a disc, you are pretty much screwed.

Try to use rapidshare ( http://rapidqueen.com/ ) and keep all your music library in a safer place than a hard drive. In my computer I’ve lost all the data several times… Now I don’t trust the drives and keep all important data separately.

109. lucy - April 5, 2009

i have 2 i-pod shuffles. for some reason they stoped working. every time i turn them on, the green light flashes, then the orange light starts flashing countinuosly. not only that but my i-tunes is gone as well. when i click on it, it says its not valid or something. how do i get my i-tunes back and get my i-pods working again??????????

110. larryboyfed - April 25, 2009

Well, auto-update of iTunes 8.1.1.10 (Win XP SP3) and then an iPod sync attempt. I’m in the same boat as everyone else. No music/movie/podcast files ANYWHERE on my HD. I even initially got poor Lucy’s iTunes program “not valid” response, but at least THAT is working again. I have music files listed (only the CDs I ripped, no purchased content) but they don’t actually exist anywhere either. I just got done begging Apple in an email for a re-download of about 2,000 documented purchases.

Backing-up…GOOD, not backing-up…BAD.

My pray life is getting pretty fervant right now. Come on Apple!

111. JDLR - May 23, 2009

WOW THIS ACTUALLY WORKED
THANKS FOR THE TIP

112. Tim - June 1, 2009

One of the better things to remember, I think, is that there is a human on the other end if you’re using the iTunes Support Chat option, a human who has the ability to help you out, or send you along to someone who does.

I told them about how one of the albums, “Seussical,” I had purchased right after seeing my sister perform in her high school’s production of the show, and how I was extra bummed about losing that one. The person immediately told me they’d do everything they could to help me out.

113. KEITH - June 3, 2009

ALRIGHT THIS IS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR. MY SON JUST LOST ALL OF HIS MUSIC WHEN WE UPGRADED TO ANOTHER VERISON OF ITUNES AND WHEN I INITIALLY CALLED ITUNES SUPPORT THE GUY I SPOKE TO TELLS ME MY IPOD IS OUT OF WARRENITY AND IT WOULD COST $29.99 FOR HIM TO HELP ME. I WENT OFF ON HIM AND TOLD HIM I THINK THIS IS A SCAM AND I WILL BE CONTACTING CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCIES IN PENNSYLVANIA TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. ONCE YOU PURCHASE A SONG THEY HAVE RECORDS OF THE PURCHASE AND THERE IS NO REASON OTHER THEN GREED ON THIER PART NOT TO ALLOW ACCESS TO YOUR MUSIC….EVER

114. Sojak - July 8, 2009

To Keith,
Nah, it’s not greed. It’s a stupid policy, but it’s not greed. There’s a program called Steam that keeps a record of programs you’ve purchased, and you can redownload the same thing on any computer, you just can’t be logged in on more than one computer is the only restriction. I like that system, and wish Itunes could follow it, but it’s on the leash of the music industry, and they are very heavy-handed on what they allow.

The answer? As soon as you get the music or video, break their contract by changing it to a format that’s not protected. I don’t have a tinge of guilt as I follow the spirit of the law, and what do ya know, I’m no longer tied to their stupid restrictions.

115. mondo - July 12, 2009

I lost all of my music and videos in a drive crash. Apple allowed me to reload all of my content. They were very fast and helpful. Apple did not give me any hassle at all. If this happens to you then use the form on the link below to get help.

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/

It took a lot longer to re-download all of media then it did for Apple to help me. Like any problem it helps to talk to the correct people. A quick search in Apples support site will usually point you in the right direction quickly.

This is the second time I have tried to contact someone about this issue and have been told I will be emailed with in 24 days and I have not been contacted yet.

119. Kim - August 22, 2009

Hard drive is cooked like an egg, and the computer won’t even recognize it now when I plug it in. So, this means I lost all my music, and my iPod is a nice white paper weight. But, I can call Apple and have them give me my purchased songs back? Where does it go? On the computer until I can get another iPod? Does it go magically back into my Library? I have some songs in my Library, just not all the songs I’ve purchased over the years.

120. Kim - August 22, 2009

Oh crap, hang on. Silly blonde moment here. My hard drive on my computer is fine. My hard drive on my iPod is shot. And, I don’t have all of my Purchased songs through the years all saved on my iTunes because silly me didn’t want to have all those songs on iTunes, so I erased them over the years. I still have some, but not all. Since it’s not my computer’s hard drive and it’s my iPod’s, they likely won’t honor that will they? So I’m still screwed trying to find all the music I’ve lost and have been working toward for the past six years?

121. Apocalypse - September 16, 2009

I lost my music and video on my i pod but i still have my pictures. Wat do i do?

122. gwen - September 24, 2009

Using all Apple products helps also. I had a hard drive crash on my Macbook and the backup that I’d put on my Time Capsule was of an already corrupt HD – so – in short I did backup my computer and my library. They were very nice about replacing all my downloads (going back over three years something like 1500 songs and a few movies).
I did get the standard “we don’t do this all the time, back up your data” lecture though.
The funny thing was, I’d really only asked to be allowed to download a couple of the movies and they provided everything.

123. BRH - October 11, 2009

My problem with them not letting you re-download purchases is that I can no longer back up my iTunes to disk. I used to back everything up, my entire iTunes library, once or twice per year. For the past 2 years or so (iTunes version 7 or something) I’ve not been able to back up purchases. I click on the “back up to disk” option. Computer tells me to insert disk. I insert disk into open drive. Drive closes and computer reads “checking media.” Nothing happens after that.

I’m not alone. Many people have had the same problem judging by the Apple forums. I think it has something to do with newer versions of iTunes shutting a drive down or something. Some people have had luck changing a setting or two, some haven’t.

Now I’ve got a WD external hard drive. All my stuff is backed up to that. I still can’t burn things to disk as data though. Before I got this external hard drive, I had to delete several videos (Love Actually, Groundhog Day, The Punisher) because I didn’t have the room on my computer.

It’s not Apple’s fault if I choose not to back things up to disk. It is their fault if I CAN’T back things up to disk.

131. unfortunate - December 5, 2009

here’s what the a–h-les say on their site now

Purchased songs, videos, iPod Games, and albums can be downloaded only once

Introduction
When you buy a song, video, iPod Game, or album from the iTunes Store, you are entitled to download it only once.

How To
When you buy a song, video, iPod Game, or album from the iTunes Store you are entitled to download it a single time. If you want to download it again, you must purchase it again. You can copy downloaded content between authorized computers.

See: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/#itunes_library_and_back_up

This is a crock, but don’t forget, they can change the iTunes terms of use any time they want! And you, dear customer, are not sitting at the table when they make those decisions.

Apple will do this. As an iPhone Tech Support agent, I hear this all this time. People call in and say something along the lines of “ZOMG, like, I lost all my music, cause like, my iPhone crashed, and like, I never, like, plugged it into my computer. So, like, can you, like, get my music back?
Once we get the person’s iPhone fixed, we’ll transfer them to iTunes Billing. Here is the important part: This is ONE-TIME. That’s it. No more. They mean once. In a lifetime.

143. danny - February 14, 2010

itunes isn’t being nice by letting you redownload something only one time. you purchased a song. by redownloading it, they do not lose any money. you paid for it. i know they say to backup your library, but hey- stuff happens. i would just email itunes, explain what happened and hope that you got a nice person to help you with your problem. itunes is very annoying when it comes to music. if you put music from another source(other than apple) onto itunes and your ipod, if your computer crashes or you get a new one, there is no “legal” way to get the songs from your ipod to your computer. that is what an apple worker told me at the apple store in a mall. anyway, there are programs to take music and files off your ipod to a new computer.

Whats the use in backing up what you downloaded if you are unable to actually get the music back?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I purchased a 50-song album to my iPod Touch. The next day, I wanted to sync it to my PC. But after I synced my iPod and looked in both the iPod and iTunes, I only have the first 7 and last 6 songs of my album. I did not have any chance to back up because th esongs had somehow erased during sync. I don’t want to use up my full re-download, but it’s pretty frustrating, so what can I do?

148. Sue Pearson - April 4, 2010

I have a problem with my itunes, we had an issue with the computer so i had to redownload my itunes thankfully all the libaray of songs that i had previously downloaded and paid for were still on there, this has happened to both mine and my daughters as we share the same computer but different accounts. When i go to sync my ipod or make a disk of songs it says i cant find the files for the songs previously downloaded even though they are showing in the libarary.
What can i do!??

I have to disagree with the majority of comments on here as well as the article. I recently updated my iTunes application and much to my dismay I was never given a backup option and it literally wiped out many paid songs and almost 100 apps. Luckily, the apps can be redownloaded for free; however, I am not able to download the purchased music for free even though I paid for it before. I sent emails to Apple and have yet to receive a response. Supposedly, Apple has the best customer service amongst computer device manufacturers; however, I have not received any assistance once so ever; so, I have to say that they are about to loose a customer over this. And while I am only one person, I am sure that I am not the only customer that this has happened to.

had a very mixed experience recently with losing video purchases due to Apple TV/iTunes sync problem. No opportunity to back up the content (transfer purchases was grayed-out) and the files were deleted.

This ATV sync problem is fairly well documented in the user forums.

Apple iTunes store granted a re-download but only for 6 of the 7 missing episodes. The agent would not answer any further requests to restore the final missing item. Not sure why…

Next time, I’ll think twice about buying video content from the iTunes store. At least my DVD’s don’t usually self-destruct on the shelves.

162. AmanO - August 2, 2010

I am a fan of apple. Even after finding this out today.

Some things they do, though, are really unfair/stupid. Hockey Puck mouse, (mice in general) iTunes 1 DL limit? This will make me NEVER buy stuff from iTunes. I do not even use iTunes for my iPod. Floola does just fine. I have a 360 and buy unlimited DL licenses of games. That is the way it should be on iTunes. Especially since they are expensive.

163. AmanO - August 2, 2010

where is the edit button? This has nothing to do with royalies. Everyone gets their money when you make the first purchase. Anything else is laziness or greed. There is no reason to make people pay more than once. This really pisses me off.

165. Savannah - August 7, 2010

ok, so recently the family computer crashed and i had i tunes downloeaded there. so i lost it all and i want it back, but onyo my new laptop. i need some help please.

166. Edwin - August 13, 2010

I clean out my windows vista PC last wk , I back up my itunes music
but did not retrive all of it, like from Feb 10′-Jul10′ is there any way
that I can re-dwload again from those dates

167. Giovanni Arana - August 14, 2010

itunes is a major ripoff. How dare them say you have to re-buy what you already bought. This is a monopoly no matter how you look at it.
I do not need some rich conglomerate having control over what I rightfully own. If they were sending me hard media that may be different but all they have to do is let you download your purchased music from their server. If anything, they should just charge a small processing fee.
Netflix doesn’t even charge you if you lose one of their dvd movies.

This is the reason people pirate music.

168. Duval Computing Services - August 14, 2010

Awesome, I was having this problem with one of my customer and had no idea who to turn to!

169. bob - August 14, 2010

I personaly think it is disgusting how they do not let you redownload without a fight..

170. TINA - August 21, 2010

Just wanted to say that I asked apple itunes to redownload my £200 worth of purchases from itunes that I lost when my hard drive randomly failed (and I stupidly hadn’t backed it up). Really didn’t think they would say yes but they did hooray! Got all my songs back except a few that had been taken off itunes.
I found it very difficult to know how to contact them about this though. If you click on the link at the end of the original article above (under “Edit” note), then go to where it says “Get Customer Service” at the bottom of the page, then to “Downloading iTunes Store Purchases” under that, then I clicked on “Download errors” and sent an e-mail request using the automated form. They replied within 48 hours and explained how to redownload the files from itunes, it was simple. I am in the UK, it didn’t seem to matter.
Good luck everyone (and now go and buy an external hard drive and learn how to use Time Machine as I have now done!!)

171. TINA - August 21, 2010

PS I don’t have any special applecare or tech support or any of that, just emailed itunes using the link given in this article and asked nicely… it’s simple once you know how to ask them and who to ask.

172. TINA - August 21, 2010

The e-mail address they gave when they mailed back is:

iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com

Don’t know if it will work to email this address directly or you have to doit through the form but thought I would let people know as this is what I was hunting for originally!

173. Tony Lee - August 24, 2010

If you still have your purchased items on your ipod… i have a solution. it worked for me and it should work for everybody. There is no filing a complaint towards apple or nothing… step 1: make sure you are signed in to your itunes store…. step 2: plug in your ipod and let itunes read it. step 3: click on file: and somewhere at the bottom there is a button called “Transfer purchases from (whatever you named your ipod)”. it will ask you to authorize your computer to your account if you have not done so. DO THAT! you are allowed to authorize 5 computers for one account. so you are safe. after doing that, it should “sync” your ipod, and put the songs that you have bought that is on your ipod back into your itunes. Hopefully this can help those who are in need. YOU ARE WELCOME. =)

NOTE: if something goes wrong and your music gets deleted on your ipod, this is not my fault. that was your doing. I have not read all the posts that has been posted so what i have said may be on there? i don’t know. but this has worked for me and it should work for everybody else, ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE MUSIC ALREADY ON YOUR IPOD. Thanks. =)

consumers had a chance to fight this at the beginning, but the chance is lost.

apple sucks

175. Rob - September 3, 2010

Whatever the case is, I don’t believe Apple makes it easy enough to get music back that was lost after rightfully purchasing it.

176. alfred shelton - September 3, 2010

hello , losyt all music in itunes bshe246180@aol.com can we restore all songs that were brought?

177. Sylvia - September 6, 2010

I can’t find any of my music or movies. It could be from changing computers. Or because it’s been a couple of yrs.. But I spent a lot of money on itunes. I jus e-mailed them. I hope it works out. I just hope I don’t have to name the things. I remember like one of the songs out’ve like over 100…lol

178. Growltiger - September 19, 2010

I clicked on the link and all I got was sales information.

I don’t need to re-download all my songs; only about five that I lost before I backed up again.
How do I get in touch with these people?

179. Shannon - September 25, 2010

Can’t get my bloody music I bought from iTunes , yes I was the bone head that didn’t authorize the computer , all those apps and albums . Please help me get my (one) re download .Shannon cronulla beach Aus

180. Zoe - September 26, 2010

This worked for me once. My iphone fell in water an I lost the purchases I had made from the phone that month. I emailed iTunes and they allowed me to re-download them that they said I could only do “once”. Currently, due to an unfortunate turn of events, I no longer have access to the computer that has all of my music and videos on it. I had not had access to that computer for many months before I realized that I would never be able to access it again, so the music/videos/apps bought through the phone within those months were not backed up. I had to fight with iTunes to get my music redownloaded into a new iTunes! So when they say once, they mean once with a smile, the 2nd time they are going to fight you for it.

181. iPad user - October 11, 2010

I pity the people who purchase anything from apple. I pity myself often as a result. DRM is evil and causes more trouble than it’s worth. a lot could be learned from online distributors like Steam which seem to have the right model. Steve needs to wake up and loosen the belt a little. For a ‘visionary’ he seems to lack vision.

182. John - October 30, 2010

My itunes songs are gone! What do I do?

183. Paul Saundersq - November 6, 2010

It really is a dumb policy. Once you buy the content, you already paid the intellectual property fees and there is a clear record of this in the Apple iTunes store. Given all of the cloud services available for backup, it seems silly to buy content only to have to back it up again somewhere else. Why can’t I just buy a movie, watch it, then delete it knowing that I can get it again later when I want to watch it? Besides, I backup my data but I have a case where I had not watched a move for six months. When I tried to wathc it, a 30 minute portion in the middle was corrupt. Guess what, the backup was a copy of the corrupted file.

I was in the beginning treated by using Intense pulsed light which often isn’t the most practical method to get hair removal. I began with full arm laser hair removal. I visited an MD that applied a powerful older fractional laser skin unit however was left with spotty areas. Later I decided to invest in a cosmetology. I am pleased and will be beginning other regions of my body soon. Their costs as well fit my spending budget which is definitely a great benefit.

Hi there, I think your website could be having web browser compatibility issues.

When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in I.

E., it has some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you
a quick heads up! Other than that, excellent blog!

273. zygor Guides 5.3 - July 27, 2013

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot approximately
this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something.
I think that you just can do with some p.c. to force the message house a bit,
but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read.
I will definitely be back.

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s
a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often.
Did you hire out a developer to create your theme?
Great work!

You made some decent points there. I checked on the web to find out more about
the issue and found most people will go
along with your views on this site.

I got married in 2008 and since then we had no children. Due to this and several other reasons, me and my husband were always quarreling and fighting and I was regretting seriously ever getting into that marriage. I believed that something spiritual was affecting my marriage and I later confirm with the belief that a spiritual husband was involved somewhere. By this time, my marriage was on the verge of collapse. But when I saw a testimony about one Dr EJEMEN spell caster on the internet i decided to give him a trier, so he told me the problem is over after the spell have be cast, my understanding / mindset started changing, especially when I got the reading and the casting was completed : Spiritual Warfare, Back to Sender ;revolutionized my mindset and whole – being. I then called my husband and reconciled with him. I taught him what I learn from the spell caster Dr EJEMEN and your messages and now the result is a happy marriage. There is now peace in my home and my business has been revived. i am now finally pregnant and we are expecting our first baby with mike.HELP ME To THANK Dr EJEMEN for the joy and happiness he brought to my life.contact him via:ejemenspelltemple@live.com

282. Laura Robin - June 15, 2014

My name is Laura Robin i read some testimony about Dr PALOMA on how he has helped them in bringing back there ex within 48 hours i was just thinking if that was real, I never believed in love spells or magic until i met this spell caster once when i went to Nigeria in February this year on a business summit. I meant a man who’s name is DR.PALOMA he is really powerful and could help cast spells to bring back one’s gone, lost, misbehaving lover and magic money spell or spell for a good job or luck spell .I’m now happy & a living testimony cos the man i had wanted to marry left me 4 weeks before our wedding and my life was upside down cos our relationship has been on for 4years. I really loved him, but his mother was against us and he had no good paying job. So when i met this spell caster, i told him what happened and explained the situation of things to him. At first i was undecided, skeptical and doubtful, but i just gave it a try. And in 7 days when i returned to Canada, my boyfriend (now husband) called me by himself and came to me apologizing that everything had been settled with his mom and family and he got a new job interview so we should get married. I didn’t believe it cos Dr PALOMA only asked for my name and my boyfriends name and all i wanted him to do. Well we are happily married now and we are expecting our little kid, and my husband also got the new job and our lives became much better. His email is: palomaspelltemple@yahoo.com

my ex broke up with me for the fact that he wanted space, i tried telling him how much i love him but he was just so stubborn, he suddenly changed, he started cheating, I was so hurt and depressed. so a friend suggested the idea of contacting a spell caster, which I never thought of myself. after i contacted Robinson for his help. I asked him to do a love spell for me so that my lover can come back to me, but before the spell was done, I was a bit skeptical about the capacity to bring my lover back to me. 3 days after the spell was actually cast, my lover returned to me and since then, it seems that there is no more mistrust and no more lies between us. He doesn’t cheat anymore. there is no word to say how grateful I am, I am leaving a testimonial on this page, Mr Robinson ‘s number is + 19715126745

I was suggested this blog via my cousin. I’m not sure whether or
not this submit is written by way of him as nobody else understand such
targeted approximately my problem. You are incredible!

Thanks!

Unquestionably consider that which you stated. Your favorite
justification appeared to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed at the
same time as other folks consider worries that
they just do not recognise about. You managed to hit the nail upon the
highest and also outlined out the whole thing without having side effect ,
people can take a signal. Will likely be again to get more.
Thanks
